For the second year in a row, CR&A manufactured the signs for Eeeeeatscon LA, a food festival as unique as its name. Here, the challenge is to translate a website’s unique vision into signs equally original and idiosyncratic. Here’s how we did it.
What Is Eeeeeatscon?
Now in its second edition, Eeeeeatscon LA is a food festival organized by The Infatuation, a website looking to put a more authentic spin on online restaurant reviews.
The Infatuation’s approach to food is uncompromisingly honest and refreshingly fun (for example one of the entries on their website is titled “The Least-Awful Rooftop Bars in LA”).
Instead of having algorithms suggest restaurants or stuffing their website with branded posts, all the content on The Infatuation is curated by a small but committed team of people who visit restaurants themselves and pay for their meals out of their own pockets.
Eeeeeatscon brings The Infatuation’s distinctive vision to life to the delight of food lovers eager to explore new culinary horizons. The recipe is simple: attendees can enjoy some of the best food Los Angeles has to offer in a festive atmosphere that includes music and specialized panels.
Our Work for Eeeeeats Con LA 2022
As you can tell from the description above, Eeeeeatscon isn’t your typical food festival.
This is an event organized by a unique website reviewing unique restaurants in a unique way. Our mission was to ensure that the visual side of the event lived up to this energetic originality.
For the 2022 edition of Eeeeeatscon LA, a team of designers came up with fun sign concepts that combine trippy imagery (like floating burgers or a cookie emerging from a cloud) in different tones of blue, the dominant color of both The Infatuation and Eeeeeatscon.

It was up to us to ensure that the finished version of the sign was as impressive as it appeared on the screen. After all, our slogan is “If you can imagine it, we can print it”!
The finish of a sign is something you can’t really appreciate before a graphic is printed. However, the choice of matte vs glossy can make or break a sign. In our example, the matte effect is perfect for the festival’s cool, dreamy aesthetic
For the crowning touch of the feature wall pictured above, we took the Eeeeeatscon logo, which combines a hand-drawn aesthetic with a 3D effect, and turned it into an actual tridimensional object with letters that pop from the background.
The finished graphic was as unconventional as Eeeeeatscon itself and served as a demonstration of how large format printing can surprise even the most discerning audiences.
Eeeeeats Con LA 2023: CR&A Custom Does It Again
For this year’s edition of Eeeeeats Con LA, the challenge was even more ambitious, with more types of signage involved.
Again, a team of designers came up with the graphics and we ensured that the finished product reflected their vision and exceeded their expectations.
Of course, it helped that we were already familiar with Eeeeeats Con and their visual personality, which highlights the importance of building a long-term relationship with your large format printing partner.
1. Feature Wall With 3D Letters
The design of this year’s feature wall included more elements, making for a more dynamic composition. Again, the 3D letters stand out from the background, becoming the focal point of the graphic.
2. Parking Lot Truss Wrap With 3D Letters
The parking lot truss wrap gets the attendees’ visual journey started as soon as they approach the event venue (The Barker Hangar Santa Monica), like a portal to a fun, flavorful world.
3. Step and Repeat Backdrop
Step and repeat banners have become a staple of all types of events and with good reason: they add a touch of glamor to any occasion while increasing the visibility of your brand and sponsors.
4. Fence Scrim (Mesh)
Fence scrims, also known as fence wraps, are lightweight coverings made of woven or perforated plastic material printed on one side.
These graphics increase privacy by concealing the objects behind it without completely blocking out light, turning any fence into a colorful branding device.
5. Directional Column Towers and Directional Wall
If your event is spread out over a large area, your audience will need help getting their bearings. The good news is that you can provide directions in style with directional columns and walls.
A directional column is a vertical structure that works as a signpost, making it easy for attendees to get where they need to go. Directional walls, on the other hand, make use of horizontal space to display general maps of large areas.
As you can see in the examples pictured here, both types of structures offer an ideal surface to place QR codes people can use to download virtual brochures or maps.
6. Counter and Podium Wraps
Effective branding is all about being strategic with where you place your logo, and what better place to display your brand than on counters and podiums? These two structures naturally attract the attention of your audience, so they should be at the top of your list.
7. Menu Boards and Pick Up / Order Signs
For Eeeeeats Con LA 2023, CR&A not only worked with multiple manufacturers and fabricators of the wood booths, but we also took charge of manufacturing the menu boards showcased on the food booths. Additionally, we crafted hand-shaped signs to guide individuals on where to place their orders and pick up their food.
Wrapping It Up
From finding staff to helping attendees make sense of the venue, your event hinges on several layers of logistics. But don’t worry: signs are your best allies when it comes to keeping things organized.
Take, for example, something as simple as displaying menus or making sure people order and pick up their food on the right side of the counter.
While you may think that these are easy tasks, imagine hundreds of people getting them wrong at the same time and it’s easy to see how signs are crucial to the success of your event.
