At CR&A we are always excited about new projects but also immensely proud of the work we have done in the past. That’s why today we take a look back at 10 of our most interesting projects. From graphics for schools to wraps for some of the world’s largest media companies, these projects showcase the potential and scope of large format printing as a branding medium for all types of organizations.

1. FBI San Diego Field Office
Even the FBI loves to make a strong first impression. If you need proof, just take a look at this wrap we created in 2013 for their San Diego field office. The material is PVC mesh, while the supporting structure is a tension clip frame system. Aesthetically pleasing but elegant and sober at the same time, the final result conveys exactly what you expect from the government agency that’s synonymous with efficiency, rigor, and accuracy all around the world.
2. Tunnel Wrap at Union Station, Los Angeles
The most interesting (and fun) part about large format printing is that it allows you to use any surface to reach your audience. Take, for example, this tunnel wrap at Union Station, in Los Angeles. Working in such a constrained, high space would have been a grueling task with traditional methods. Luckily, digital printing makes it easy to advertise even on unusual surfaces or hard-to-reach areas. If you can awe your audience and get them to ask themselves “How did they do that?” you are well on your way toward earning a special place in the minds of current and potential customers.
3. Monorail Wrap for Disneyland
That Disney, the masters of visual entertainment, chose to wrap their monorail is a testament to the power of large format printing. If the previous example shows how digital printing can upgrade the appearance of any space, this project demonstrates that the same applies to vehicles as well, be it a car, a bus, a boat, or even a monorail. Talk about conveying a dynamic message!
4. Art Project for the San Diego Airport Commuter Terminal
From office life to air travel, art can add new, interesting dimensions to any experience. This graphic project for the San Diego Airport Commuter Terminal allows travelers to get a taste of the character of the city without even leaving the airport. Dynamic, sophisticated, and fun, this supergraphic conveys all that’s great about San Diego while enhancing the experience of passengers.
5. Supergraphics for Target at LA Live
When you advertise your brand at LA Live, the hub of entertainment in downtown Los Angeles, you have no option but to be unique and fun. That’s why this project for Target was replaced every three to six months, with graphics that aim to tell stories, surprise the audience, or just make the day of passersby with engaging, upbeat visuals.
6. Coca-Cola Ad at the Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles
You would be hard-pressed to find a brand more iconic than Coca-Cola. Working with such legendary names is always a challenge but CR&A was up to the task. Coca-Cola is so ingrained in the public’s consciousness that all you need is a logo and the outline of a bottle for people to identify the brand instantly. And if you place the graphic on one of the most sophisticated hotels in downtown Los Angeles, you have the perfect branding solution for a company that is both legendary and ubiquitous.
7. ESPN offices, Los Angeles
Digital large format printing suits all types of brands, but it’s particularly well equipped to convey the excitement, drama, and thrill of sports. This project for the offices of ESPN in Los Angeles turns an otherwise unremarkable glass surface into a bold brand statement that grabs the attention of passersby and communicates the electrifying allure of this sports media powerhouse.
8. Coca-Cola Refresh Project
Versatility is crucial to a successful branding strategy. Being able to take your message anywhere means that you can reach your audience wherever they go, be it for work, school, or leisure. That’s why large format printing was Coca-Cola’s medium of choice for their Refresh project. The basic idea behind the campaign was to brand more than 200 locations scattered around Downtown Los Angeles. Thanks to digital printing technology, walls and windows became billboards that spread this refreshing message among Angelenos.
9. Los Angeles Unified School District
Again, versatility is everything when it comes to branding, and large format printing allows you to take your message to the next level. However, don’t be deceived into thinking that branding only applies to big companies. All kinds of organizations need effective branding nowadays, including educational institutions. The Los Angeles Unified School District understands this and arranged for 20+ schools to display custom graphics on all types of surfaces, including walls, tiles, and windows.
10. Wall Mural for USC Housing Complex
A strong identity creates a sense of belonging and bolsters the culture of any organization, including institutions of higher education. For example, the University of Southern California commissioned this wall mural for their off-site housing complex. The full-color graphic was printed on vinyl and mounted on concrete. By creating an association between USC and Southern California’s famed surfer culture, this project proves that education can be cool and that with large format printing you can be as bold as you when you ride the waves of visual communication.
